Polite Provisions general store

You decide to stop at Polite Provisions General Store for a quick snack. They have the best salt water taffy in town. And Halloween didn’t really include candy as we know it until the 1930s, but the practice of “trick-or-treating” on All Hallow’s Eve has its origins in medieval Scotland and Ireland!

As you move into the candy aisle, suddenly a gust of wind shoots past you to topple the display stand! Chocolate bars, gumdrops, taffy, and lollipops scatter on the floor. The grim-looking shopkeeper looks your way and says you must help reassemble the section of the ruined candy display, or face the consequences. “Only then can you acquire what you’re truly looking for,” he whispers. You realize this is your next challenge.

There are 4 empty sections, and 4 different types of candy to choose from. You need to figure out what candies to use and in what order.

To solve:

Use this workspace to figure out where the candies should go. You must follow these rules:

  • 2 of each kind of candy are featured in the sections, no more and no less.

  • The same kind of candy cannot be directly above or below each other (including the ones already in place).

  • The same kind of candy cannot be directly to the left or right of each other.

  • Section E must feature Chocolate.
