Your next clue takes you to the home of one of Dracula’s favorite familiars—the printer and cartoonist José Guadalupe Posada. In the late 19th Century, Posada (actually a real person, though not really a ‘familiar’) re-envisioned Mictecacíhuatl, the Aztec goddess of the underworld, as a female skeleton known as La Calavera Catrina, now the most recognizable Day of the Dead icon.

The Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. To pass this next challenge, José requests that you rearrange the puzzle here to form his famous La Calavera Catrina.

To solve:

  • Rearrange the puzzle here to reveal La Calavera Catrina.

  • Read the inscription below the skull, a famous Day of the Dead saying.

  • Translate the saying from Spanish to English (help found here).

  • The code is the 4th and 5th words of the saying.

When you’re ready, click below to type in the passcode.

Hint: Use all lowercase letters, no space between the two words.
